Wendy Williams says Meghan Markle shouldn't be surprised at treatment by tabloids: 'You knew what you were doing'

If Meghan Markle needs a shoulder to cry on it won’t belong to Wendy Williams.

Markle told a reporter that she didn’t anticipate just how difficult it would be as a new mother under the microscope of British tabloids, and revealed a friend told her not to marry Prince Harry. “My British friends said to me, ‘I’m sure he’s great but you shouldn’t do it because the British tabloids will destroy your life,” said Markle.” She added, “I didn’t get it.”

Williams weighed in on Markle’s comments saying, “Yes you did. You knew exactly what you were doing.” She added, “Don’t try to garner sympathy from us. You knew what you were doing.”

The host also said Markle shouldn’t have been surprised that paparazzi now seek her out. “Don’t be surprised that the paparazzi are everywhere. Of course! You’re now a royal! They weren’t following you when you were on ‘Suits.’ We didn’t even know who you were!” said Williams.

Viewers took to Twitter after Williams’ comments, with many saying the top talker was too harsh on the distressed duchess:

Others agreed with Williams and weren’t interested in hearing Markle’s complaints:
