DE PERE - A fire at an apartment complex in the 900 block of North Broadway caused about $200,000 in damages Wednesday morning, according to De Pere Fire Rescue.

De Pere Fire Rescue was dispatched at about 9:15 a.m. to a report of smoke and flames coming from the complex, said Battalion Chief Brett Jansen. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to one apartment, Jansen said. The apartments were evacuated and no injuries were reported, he said.

The address of the apartment fire, 985 N. Broadway, is for Crow's Nest Apartments, a multi-unit, wood-frame structure.

By 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, the fire was under control. Lamers Bus Lines responded to transport apartment residents displaced by it. The fire department was using a drone to locate any remaining hot spots on the roof.

At about 10:50 a.m. an American Red Cross of Wisconsin van arrived at the scene. The Red Cross said in a tweet that disaster volunteers are working with local leaders to help displaced residents.

Four apartments were damaged due to the fire, Jansen said in a news release, and displaced residents have been relocated by the Red Cross for an unknown amount of time.
