MSNBC Abruptly Dumps Tiffany Cross, Declines to Renew Contract After 2 Years
Tiffany Cross, host of “The Cross Connection with Tiffany Cross,” has exited MSNBC after the network failed to renew her two-year contract.
Cross and her staff were notified of the show’s cancellation Friday morning, according to an individual with knowledge. Her last show was on Saturday.
Aside from Cross, no other staffing changes have been made. A rotating group of anchors will fill in during her time block of Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET while the network searches for a replacement. There is no timeline as to when a new show will be announced.
According to a person with knowledge of the matter, Cross’ ousting comes after she was addressed multiple times this year about on-air comments that do not reflect the network’s values.
Throughout her tenure, the host regularly ripped into conservative politicians and media figures. During an appearance last night on Comedy Central’s “Hell Of A Week,” Cross advocated for “castrat[ing] Florida,” deeming it “the dick of the country.” In July, she pointed to Trump White House communications director Alyssa Farrah Griffin joining “The View” as an example of the media pandering to “racist white people.” Back in January, Cross said that liberals “need to pick up a weapon and get involved” in “the war” against democracy, drawing accusations of encouraging violence.
Before joining MSNBC, Cross served as the DC Bureau Chief of BET News and liaison to the Obama Administration for BET Networks. A former producer at CNN and Discovery, she was a frequent guest on MSNBC, CNN, and SiriusXM before she received her own show.
MSNBC declined to comment. A representative for Cross did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
