Matt Damon Can’t Stop Himself From Bragging About Teen Daughter Isabella in New Interviews

We love a proud papa, especially a proud “girl dad,” but the reason Matt Damon is so pumped up about his teen daughter is pretty hilarious — and gives a good sense of the actor’s own self-deprecating sense of humor. The Damon household really knows how to keep things real amid their celebrity family life. Damon has been making the rounds of TV interview lately to promote his new movie Stillwater, and the convo often turns to him bragging about 15-year-old daughter Isabella for — get this — the smack talk she serves him about his movies.

On Monday, the actor told E! News that Isabella is always ready to give him a hard time, even if it means poking fun at some of his less-successful work.

“If the reviews come out and they’re terrible, then she’ll watch it,” Damon told the outlet. “If they come out and they’re good, she’s going to pass … She’s looking for ammunition all the time.”

“She’s like one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. She’s really cool,” added Damon, who is also dad to daughters Stella, 10, Gia, 12, and Alexia, 22, with wife Luciana Barroso.

This isn’t the first time Damon has told this type of anecdote about Isabella’s approach to watching his films, as he told a similar story to CBS Sunday Morning just last week.

“She doesn’t want to see any movies that I’m in that she thinks might be good. She just likes to give me sh*t,” Damon told CBS Sunday Morning about how she refuses to see his 1998 Oscar-winner Good Will Hunting. “My daughter said, ‘Hey remember that movie you did, The Wall?’ I said, ‘It was called The Great Wall.’ She goes, ‘Dad, there was nothing great about that movie!’ She keeps my feet firmly on the ground.”

“She’s like one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. She’s really cool.”

We get it, Isabella! It’s hard for kids, especially teens, to think their parents are cool. And it must be super strange to watch your Dad on screen, especially your Dad when he was 25 years younger. Ew, weird! But Good Will Hunting is a really excellent movie, and we hope someday you watch it. (P.S. Your uncle Ben Affleck is in it, too!) You don’t even have to tell your Dad. It can be our little secret.
