Malcolm X On Death: “I Have No Fear Whatsoever Of Anybody Or Anything”

February is a rich month for African-Americans as it’s not only Black History Month, but it’s also robust with important dates.

February 20, 2016 marked the 89th birthday for Academy Award winner Sydney Poitier, while February 21st has dual meaning for the African-American community. It serves as Nina Simone’s birthday, as well as the day Civil Rights Leader Malcolm X, also known as El Hajj Malik El Shabazz, was assassinated while delivering a speech in New York’s Auduon Ballroom. He was just 39 year old.

In rare footage of Malcolm X on the he 51st anniversary of his death, Malcolm is asked by a reporter if he fears death, or if he worries. Several assassination attempts at his life and his family’s life had been made and his response, while bold and powerful, is still very eery.

“No, I don’t worry,” Malcolm X said. “I tell you, I’m a man who believes that I died 20 years ago and I live like a man who is dead already. I have no fear whatsoever of anybody or anything.”
