Let's celebrate Hermione Granger's birthday with her magical toy wand (exclusive)
As any bona fide Potterhead knows, Sept. 18 marks the birthday of the Wizarding World’s most beloved witch, Hermione Jean Granger. To celebrate the auspicious occasion, Yahoo Entertainment is pleased to present your very first look at Hermione’s new replica wand, apparating on shelves this weekend.
Modeled after Hermione’s movie wand, comprising vine wood and dragon heartstring core, Jakks Pacific’s interactive electronic Wizard Training Wand features light and sound effects and enables any wannabe witch or wizard to cast a series of spells ranging from Wingardium Leviosa to Indendio.
In all, there are 11 spells that can be executed by a proper wave of the wand; if done correctly, the wand makes an appropriate sound. Several of the spells are part of the regimen to join Dumbledore’s Army.
There are five modes of play in all: standalone spell training (where you learn the basics), solo free play (where you can cast as your heart desires), dual spell practice (where you can team with a wand-wielding friend), wizard tag (for dueling your magical pals), and advanced training (a two-player contest similar to Rock, Paper, Scissors).
In addition to the Hermione model, which will be exclusively available at Walmart for $24.99, the interactive wand assortment will include those wielded by Harry Potter, Dumbledore, and Lord Voldemort.
