Eric McCormack and Janet Leigh Holden McCormack are calling it quits.

The Will and Grace star, 60, and the director are divorcing after more than 26 years of marriage, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Janet, who filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences," is seeking spousal support and is requesting the court end Eric's ability to receive spousal support.

She did not list a date of separation in the divorce filing, which was entered a day before Thanksgiving in Los Angeles County Superior Court. TMZ was first to report the news.

Representatives for both Eric and Janet did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

The former couple first met in 1994 on the set of the CBS TV series Lonesome Dove. At the time, Janet was the assistant director and Eric portrayed Col. Francis Clay Mosby.

The pair then tied the knot in August 1997, and five years later they welcomed their only child, son Finnigan Holden McCormack.

Back in April 2020, Eric shared a photo of himself and Janet at the 1994 Lonesome Dove wrap party, which marked their first official photo together.

He wrote in the caption, “This is the first shot Janet & I took at the #LonesomeDove Season 1 Wrap Party, circa Dec '94. Just so happens this was our ‘coming out’ party. No one on the show knew we'd been dating for months.🤯."

During an interview with The Guardian in 2007, titled “What I know about women," Eric shared tidbits about his relationship with Janet.

“I met my wife, Janet, in 1994 on the set of a TV series. She was the assistant director. I was just coming out of a relationship, and not to be trusted," he wrote. "I'd been dating actresses but Janet was different. She wore jeans, drove a pick-up truck.”

Eric continued, “At first she wasn't too keen. She knew actors are a lot of work: it would be like taking your work home with you.”

“But I managed to convince her. We had a secret affair the first season. I mean, dating crew! Actually, it was much worse for her, because she wasn't supposed to give any of the actors preferential treatment," the actor added.
