'Cancer isn't contagious': Actress with shaved head calls out plane passenger who was scared to sit next to her
Joey King’s newly shaved head made one guy’s hair stand on end. The actress was on a plane Sunday when the person sitting next to her had a strange reaction to her baldness.
Luckily, she shared his hilarious concern on social media.
Y’all I’m on a plane & this man next to me literally turned to me with his phone in my face & took a photo of me as if I wouldn’t notice & texted his wife that he’s sitting next to a girl who has cancer (just cuz I’m bald) & that hes scared to “catch it”…Y R PPL STUPID SUMTIMES

Obviously, the guy is wrong for many reasons. For starters, cancer is not contagious. As the American Cancer Society states, “There is no evidence that close contact or things like sex, kissing, touching, sharing meals, or breathing the same air can spread cancer from one person to another.”
Then, there’s the fact that King doesn’t even have cancer. Rather she recently buzzed her hair off to play Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a teen accused of killing her mother after years of abuse, in Hulu’s The Act.
King’s fans had plenty of reactions to the interaction.
UGH. THAT IS NOT OKAY. Cancer is a serious and painful disease. It’s not just hard for the person itself. It’s also hard for his/her family. It’s a disease we as ppl know almost noting about. I hate the fact that ppl underestimate the impact it has on ppl.

And also being bald doesn’t have to mean you’re sick. It can also mean that you are a strong, beautiful and confident woman, who doesn’t need hair to feel beautiful. Ppl need to stop stereotyping everything. People have different stories & different reasons. Feel free to be proud

Should have looked at the guy and said “1) I don’t have cancer. 2) even if I did, cancer is not contagious. 3) I’m the one at risk because you have a case of stupidity and that’s contagious, I don’t want to catch that.”

Should have done the same to him, text someone and said "There's an idiot next to me and I'm scared I'm gonna get dumber". Of course make sure he seen it.
