Bristol Palin’s decision to get a divorce plays out on ‘Teen Mom OG’

On Monday’s Teen Mom OG, after a few weeks of watching new cast member Bristol Palin and then husband Dakota Meyer try to sort through his ongoing issues with anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from his time as a Marine, viewers saw the beginning of the end of their marriage. “It's not like I don't love my life here. I just don't like my marriage at all,” Palin admitted early in the episode while chatting with a producer. After realizing that they exhausted all other efforts to repair things, the two sat down to talk in front of the cameras. They agreed that trying to coexist with each other just isn’t working out, with Meyer taking full responsibility for what his PTSD has done to the marriage, and Palin owning up to her faults as well.“I fully take responsibility of becoming cold, and I am sorry. I'm sorry that I'm that way,” Palin said. “I don't think that you deserve to have a wife that's that way, and I want you to have a sense of peace. I do feel like we are better people when we're not together.”Palin was more eager to pull the plug on the marriage than Meyer, with his main concern being their two young daughters, two-year old Sailor and one-year-old Atlee, saying that he thinks they will suffer from a divorce.“I think that they would suffer even more if we sat here and continued to try to do this relationship,” Palin responded. “It's not a good situation.”Even though Meyer was willing to keep fighting for his family, he wanted what’s best for Bristol. The pair apologized to each other for the things they’ve said and agreed that they will continue to make their kids the top priority.“I do love you and I think that you're the most incredible dad, and it breaks my heart that, you know, we were never able to sit here and be teammates with anything,” Palin said.Teen Mom OG premieres on Oct. 1 at 9 p.m. on MTV.Check out how Bristol Palin and Dakota Meyer tried dealing with their issues on Teen Mom OG:
