Bristol Palin and Dakota Meyer decide to end things in front of 'Teen Mom' cameras

On Monday’s Teen Mom OG, after a few weeks of watching Bristol Palin and Dakota Meyer try to sort through his issues with anxiety and posttraumatic stress disorder from his time as a Marine, viewers saw the beginning of the end of their marriage.

“It’s not like I don’t love my life here — I just don’t like my marriage at all,” Palin admitted early in the episode while chatting with a producer.

After realizing that they had exhausted all other efforts to repair their relationship, the two sat down to talk before the cameras. They agreed that trying to live together isn’t working out, with Meyer taking responsibility for what his PTSD has done to the marriage and Palin owning up to her shortcomings.

“I fully take responsibility of becoming cold, and I am sorry,” Palin said. “I’m sorry that I’m that way. I don’t think that you deserve to have a wife that’s that way, and I want you to have a sense of peace. I do feel like we are better people when we’re not together.”

Palin appeared more eager to pull the plug on the marriage than Meyer. His main concern was their two daughters, 2-year-old Sailor and 1-year-old Atlee, and he said a divorce would hurt them.

“I think that they would suffer even more if we sat here and continued to try to do this relationship,” Palin responded. “It’s not a good situation.”

Even though Meyer was willing to keep fighting for his family, he wanted the best for Bristol. The pair apologized to each other and agreed they would continue to make their kids the priority.

“I do love you, and I think that you’re the most incredible dad, and it breaks my heart that … we were never able to sit here and be teammates with anything,” Palin said.

Teen Mom OG airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on MTV.
