'Black Widow' action figures offer detailed look at key characters in Marvel prequel (exclusive)

You can’t keep a good spy down. Despite meeting her end earlier this year in Avengers: Endgame, Scarlett Johansson is suiting up as Natasha Romanoff one more time in Marvel Studios’s first 2020 blockbuster, Black Widow. Taking place in between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, the movie will explore Black Widow’s Red Room origins and introduce moviegoers to her pre-Avengers family, all of whom were introduced in the just-released trailer (watch above). Now these characters are also immortalized in plastic thanks to the toy makers at Hasbro, which gave Yahoo Entertainment an exclusive sneak peek at four 6-inch Black Widow collectibles set to join the Marvel Legends Series line.

Besides Natasha herself, the Black Widow Legends Series collection includes her “sister” — and possible replacement — Yelena Belova, played by Florence Pugh. Trained alongside Romanoff in the Red Room, Belova eventually attained “Black Widow” status as well, which is why speculation is high that she’ll find her way to the rebuilt Avengers HQ.

Since Steve Rogers is an old man now, there’s another super-soldier just waiting to see some action. Stranger Things star, David Harbour, makes is Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Alexei Shostakov a.k.a. the Red Guardian, who has the enhanced abilities of his American counterpart and carries a similar shield to boot.

Because these action heroes need a villain to fight, enter the Taskmaster, a masked mercenary whose comic book powers include the ability to mimic his combatant’s moves. We’ll have to wait until the movie hits theaters on May 1 to see which abilities (not to mention which identity) the MCU version possesses.

Hasbro’s Black Widow toys will be available sooner than the film; set to hit shelves early next year, all four figures are available for pre-sale now on Hasbro Pulse for $19.99 each.
