Sandra Bullock DID Adopt a Daughter! Meet Laila

Sandra Bullock can keep a secret. This time? Well, it’s that she really did adopt a daughter.

Now that the adoption is final, the Oscar winner, 51, is introducing Laila Bullock to the world via the cover of People magazine. Her adorable adopted son, Louis, 5, is featured as well. (When she added Louis — or should we call him Super Louis? — to her family, she kept his adoption a secret for several months as well.)

“You feel it’s very much like witness protection,” said Bullock about keeping the 3-year-old girl’s adoption quiet. However, it was essential because Laila (pronounced Lila) was in the Louisiana foster care system and Bullock feared the process would be jeopardized if the girl’s face was splashed all over magazine covers.

“Most foster children are in foster care because they were taken from their birth homes under tragic circumstances — and the last thing I wanted was to bring more harm to her because of the nature of my job,” Bullock told the mag.

It was during a scary emergency room visit earlier this year that a paparazzi snapped a photo of Bullock with the girl, tipping off to magazines that the star had expanded her brood. However, in October, Bullock flat-out denied she had adopted during an interview with the Associated Press.

“There is only one adopted child in my household and his name is Louis,” Sandra said at the time, choosing her words carefully. “If I had a second adopted child, everyone would be hearing about it. I would be loud and clear and say, ‘Yes, I have officially adopted a second child.’ Right now, Louis must be it.”

Now that the adoption is official, Sandra is being open about the news, but she does mask her daughter’s face — as well as little Louis’s — on the magazine cover.

“When I look at Laila, there’s no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here,” Bullock told People. “I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time.”

Little Louis was excited to gain a sibling from the very start of the process, which began three years ago. “I think he was ready for her before she even arrived,” noted Bullock, who added that he didn’t care whether it was a brother or a sister as long as he or she had “some brown skin” like his.

The Our Brand Is Crisis star added that Laila brought “pink and glitter” to her home which is already “mixed with Legos and Batmans,” thanks to Louis. And that’s a beautiful thing. “My family is blended and diverse, nutty, and loving and understanding,” she gushed. “That’s a family.”

Bullock is a single mom but she has been dating photographer and model Bryan Randall, who has a daughter of his own, since the summer.
