Pink Was Forced to Come Face to Face With Her Celebrity Crush, Johnny Depp, and We Are Embarrassed for Her

Pink is a true child of the ’80s — with an undying crush on Johnny Depp to prove it.

On Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the singer, 36, talked about her feelings for the 52-year-old actor. The bad-ass blonde, who always comes off as calm, cool, and collected, explained that she was avoiding Depp, a fellow guest on the show that night, because she “couldn’t talk” in his presence.

“Him and Michael Keaton. I can’t do it,” said Pink, who wrote the song “Just Like Fire” for Depp’s new movie Alice Through the Looking Glass.

The pop star launched into a story about how her husband, Carey Hart, forced her to say hi to Depp when they bumped into him at a record store. She did it — reluctantly — but Depp had no idea what she was talking about.

“I didn’t want to meet him,” she recalled. “My husband made me meet him, which was so dumb. I was hiding behind records in a record store. I was like [with gritted teeth]: ‘Don’t do this. I don’t want to meet him.’ And he made me do it. I don’t think it went well. I don’t feel like I nailed it.”

It didn’t go well because “I went up to him, and I was, like, ‘Hey, I saw Alice. I’m going to be writing a song [for the movie].’ He was, like, ‘You saw Alice Cooper?’ The conversation didn’t get better from there, with Depp telling Pink to “keep on pushing on” before he walked away.

After that painful story, Kimmel of course had to bring out Depp to further torture Pink. As the leading man made his way across the stage, the singer’s cheeks turned a deeper pink color than her hair — and she didn’t exactly nail it this time, either.

While they shared a hug, she hid her face in her collar. She then awkwardly flashed a thumbs-up. The rest of the time, she just giggled maniacally.

Believe it or not, things actually got worse. There seemed to be no scheduled plan for what would happen when Depp hit the stage. He barely interacted with her. Instead, he kissed Kimmel on the lips — and then he and Pink blew off Kimmel’s suggestion that Depp kiss her.

“Nope, I’m good,” Pink repeated over and over — almost as if she were in a happy place. Finally, newlywed Depp said, “Her husband’s carrying.” Gun talk has a way of ending a conversation, doesn’t it? The whole painful encounter wrapped up with Johnny touching her back and exiting the stage while Pink gave the most epic eye roll.

“That was awful, you guys. This sucks,” she said. Pointing to Kimmel and various other people offstage, she said, “I hate you, I hate you, I hate you. … This is the worst day ever.”

We truly felt her pain.
