Kate Hudson Gets Candid About Parenting: ‘Sometimes I Feel Like a Bad Mom’

Kate Hudson may be one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, but when it comes to parenting, she’s learning as she goes, just like the rest of us.

The 36-year-old actress penned an essay for InStyle’s May issue, titled “Sometimes I Feel Like a Bad Mom,” in which she detailed the struggles of raising her sons, Ryder, 12, and Bing, 4, as a single, working parent. The Mother’s Day star shares her oldest son with her ex-husband, Chris Robinson, of the Black Crowes fame, and her youngest boy with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy, the frontman of Muse.

“I was really young, like, 23, when I had Ryder. So, our relationship has always been [a little unusual],” she wrote. “I mean, we’re close, and I am his mom. I’m big on manners. I’m big on politeness. I’m big on gratitude. But I’m a bit of a wild mom.”

She continued, “Some days, I feel like I should win Best Mom of the Day award. And some days, I find myself doing strange things that don’t have any real purpose, in faraway corners in my house, and I realize I am literally and deliberately hiding from my children.”

Inside the mag, Kate also opened up about her girl squad, which includes Nicole Richie, jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer, and actress Sara Foster. “I kind of like that we’re intimidating,” she said. “You know, when you see a group of girls walk in that are having more fun than anyone?”

The actress also dished on her dating life. Check out the video to hear what she had to say, and tune in to The Insider With Yahoo on TV tonight for the latest in entertainment news.
